Fairy fort / earthen ringfort

What is recorded here

Yes. You are right. I will keep the facts clear and the fantasy separate.
Internal diameter 29m SW-NE, 29m SE-NW Situated in good pastureland which is gently sloping N, this site has a good view of the surrounding land. It consists of a circular area which is enclosed by a high, well-defined bank and exterior fosse. The enclosing bank survives to an external height of 3.4m, 2.4m internally, and varies in width from 3m to 7m at the base. The fosse does not enclose the full site and is best preserved to the S through W, where it is flat bottomed, measuring 4m wide and 1m below the height of the surrounding land. The above description is derived from C. Toal, ‘North Kerry Archaeological Survey’. Dingle. Brandon in association with FAS Training and Employment Authority (1995), no. 148. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload: 2 August 2013

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
