Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Woodfield as Stone Circle (neolithic) - (bronze Age)(possible). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 10m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

Likely dating to the Neolithic or Bronze Age, the Woodfield stone circle may have been used for ceremonial or ritual purposes, common in prehistoric Scotland. Little folklore is recorded, but such sites were often linked to seasonal gatherings or astronomical observations.
