New Slains Castle stands roofless on a cliff above Cruden Bay, holding the ghost of Francis Hay, 9th Earl of Erroll, who rebuilt it after James VI destroyed his old seat. The stone has watched Jacobite countesses, maritime mysteries and abandoned gardens, while the sea keeps taking back what the cliff once grabbed. It is not a fairytale castle, but a wounded one, shaped by treason, faith and salt wind.

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Slains Castle as Arrowhead (flint)(period Unassigned). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 1km. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

Slains Castle, located in Aberdeenshire, Scotland, was built by the Keith family in the 16th century and later held by the Earls of Kintore. It is remembered for its distinctive arrowhead-shaped design and its association with the prominent Scottish noble family.
