Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Stonehead as Recumbent Stone Circle (neolithic) - (bronze Age). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 10m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

A Neolithic or Bronze Age recumbent stone circle, likely used for ceremonial or astronomical purposes; its name "Stonehead" may reflect a local tradition or the shape of the central recumbent stone.
