What is recorded here

Castle Hill in Aberdeenshire held a royal castle first mentioned in 1264, when Richard the Mason repaired its stone work beside a chapel. It changed hands during the Wars of Independence, enduring a siege in 1308 before English keepers withdrew. The castle vanished so quickly that Aberdeen itself became entangled in myths about what stood on that hill.

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Castle Hill as Farmstead (period Unassigned), Field System (period Unassigned). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 100m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.
