Hms Ormonde (possibly): North Sea

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Hms Ormonde (possibly): North Sea as Craft (period Unassigned). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 1m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

HMS Ormonde, a Royal Navy ship, was wrecked in the North Sea in 1801 during a severe storm. The vessel, carrying a cargo of timber and military stores, was driven ashore near what is now the town of Blyth in Northumberland, England; all 220 crew and passengers survived, but the wreck was significant as it highlighted the vulnerability of naval convoys to bad weather.
