Avochie Castle is a small two-storey rubble building in Aberdeenshire, ruinous by 1745, with one gable still standing full height and a corbelled turret at the southeast angle. Surveyors in 1871 dismissed its castle claim because the walls were ordinary thick, yet an inscription near the west fireplace echoes the one at Auchnachie, hinting both places belonged to the same proud family. The name may be inheritance rather than truth, but the stones keep it alive.
