Harthill Castle is a restored Z-plan towerhouse in Aberdeenshire, built in 1601 for the Leiths of Harthill. Its tall main block, projecting square and round towers, corner turrets and gun-loops still show the shape of a home built to resist invasion as much as to shelter life. The barmekin wall and gatehouse remain beside it, while the ditch has vanished without a trace. What is certain is the architecture; what is missing is the sound of the people who lived inside it.

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Harthill Castle as Tower House (medieval). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 1m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.
