Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Banchory Hospital as Cairnfield (period Unassigned), Long Cairn (neolithic), Stone Setting (neolithic) - (bronze Age). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 10m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

Neolithic long cairn and stone setting, possibly later reused in the Bronze Age. It represents a significant prehistoric funerary and ritual site in the context of northeast Scotland's megalithic traditions.
