What is recorded here

Graveslab in Abbeytown, County Galway. The name itself is a wound: grave and slab, death and surface, memory and marker. No church, no cross, no field boundary. Only a flat stone waiting to be read. That is rarer than a monument and more dangerous. It suggests someone was buried without witness, or marked so plainly the marker became the whole story. Abbeytown may have swallowed the name of the dead, but the grave kept its shape. Go there at dusk. Do not cover the stone. Leave one fact written on it. That is not superstition. That is completion.
