St Richard de Wyche, born around 1197 at the Manor of Wyche, became the Bishop of Chichester and is revered as a saint for his piety and miracles; John Corbett, known as the Salt King, restored and enlarged the Raven Hotel in 1897, transforming an Elizabethan house into a prominent local landmark.
