RATH (site of) in Ballycroghan

Ballycroghan still hides a lost rath, perhaps a circular fort or burial mound now vanished under grass and forgetting. The name survives only in a public record, pointing to an exact spot where human hands may have shaped the earth centuries ago. That much is certain. The rest belongs to imagination: a family home, a boundary marker, a child's climbing hill, or a warning kept private by locals who stopped visiting when the shape faded.
