RATH & PREHISTORIC OCCUPATION SITE in Timakeel

RATH & PREHISTORIC OCCUPATION SITE

What is recorded here

Mud, fire and time built Timakeel before written history. A rath still stands where hands first shaped the land, witness to Neolithic, Bronze Age and early Christian life. People came here to live, tend flame, mark territory or remember the dead. The ground keeps their rhythm long after names have faded.
The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as RATH & PREHISTORIC OCCUPATION SITE. Recorded period: E.CHRIST.; PREHISTORIC; NEOLITHIC; BRONZE AGE. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
