What is recorded here

Multivallate rath in Gortaclare, County Derry. Early Christian period. Nested ditches and banks ringed a small hilltop house, perhaps a chapel or a chieftain's hall. People climbed those slopes, carried water, lit fires, and watched the plain below. The earth kept the shape of their choices long after their names disappeared.

The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as RATH, possibly originally Multivallate. Recorded period: E.CHRIST.. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.
