RATH, possibly BIVALLATE: CULNADY FORT in Culnady

RATH, possibly BIVALLATE: CULNADY FORT

What is recorded here

Culnady Fort in County Derry is a possible bivalley rath from the early Christian period. Two rings of earth may still mark the ground where people lived, worshipped or defended themselves before written memory faded. The name Rath suggests a fortress, while the dual ditch implies a place built to keep out as much as to hold within.
The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as RATH, possibly BIVALLATE: CULNADY FORT. Recorded period: E.CHRIST.. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
