RATH: OLD FORT in Clanmaghery

RATH: OLD FORT

What is recorded here

Clanmaghery still holds an old fort marked only as a rath, a name so ancient it predates every language spoken beside it. The earth may have swallowed walls, gates and rooms, but the shape remains visible enough for people to walk past and imagine what lived inside. That much is known. The rest belongs to wonder, where a rath is not a ruin but a paused sentence waiting for someone brave enough to finish it.
The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as RATH: OLD FORT. Recorded period: E.CHRIST.. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
