RATH & Man-made underground passage in Oldpark

RATH & Man-made underground passage

What is recorded here

Mortars and purpose-built tunnels still mark the site, although the exact builders and date have gone missing. The chamber may have served soldiers, workers or worshippers, yet no name has survived to confirm the choice. What remains is a hollow shape cut through living rock, waiting for a witness clever enough to read its intent.
The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as RATH & Man-made underground passage. Recorded period: E.CHRIST.. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
