RATH & Man-made underground passage in Derrygowan

RATH & Man-made underground passage

What is recorded here

Mortars and muscles built the chamber before Christ, forcing a hollow space beneath the Antrim soil. The construction required patience, heavy lifting and an unspoken belief that the ground could be shaped to human will. The completed passage still resists explanation, preserving the effort and intention of the people who transformed raw earth into a hidden chamber.
The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as RATH & Man-made underground passage. Recorded period: E.CHRIST.. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
