RATH: KINNEGOE FORT in Kinnegoe

RATH: KINNEGOE FORT

What is recorded here

Kinnegoe Fort stands in County Armagh as a rath, marking the earthly edge of a place once believed to touch the heavens. Men may have built its ring to watch the valley or to keep out what the valley hid. The stones do not explain themselves, but they still divide the field into inside and outside, reminding us that even forgotten borders shape the life they surround.
The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as RATH: KINNEGOE FORT. Recorded period: E.CHRIST.. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
