RATH in Rathkeel

RATH

What is recorded here

Rathkeel is a rath, an ancient enclosed place in County Antrim. The name itself declares what the land preserved before modern borders or forgotten tools. A boundary, a household, a warning or a refuge may have stood there, shaping the lives of people whose names no longer appear. The earth still holds the shape of that lost arrangement.
The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as RATH. Recorded period: E.CHRIST.. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
