RATH in Magheraknock, County Down, is an ancient earthwork still standing where human hands first shaped the land. The official record gives no date, but the name itself points to a time when people built rings of soil to mark power, protection or belonging. The site may have served as a boundary, a ceremony place or a warning to strangers. Whatever it was, it survived every storm and every forgotten century to remain visible in the landscape.
