RATH in Loughriscourse

RATH

What is recorded here

Loughriscourse in County Down, Ireland. A man might have built the rath there, or the lake might have swallowed the rath and left only a hidden ridge beneath the water. The name still points to a defended place, but the water removed the boundary and the lake keeps the shape private.
The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as RATH. Recorded period: E.CHRIST.; UNCERTAIN. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
