RATH in Islandderry

RATH

What is recorded here

Islandderry in County Down contains a rath, an ancient earthwork whose boundary still traces the shape of human hands. The official record preserves the name and point but not the life inside it. That absence is not a failure. It is an invitation to hear the place through memory, imagination and the danger of inventing what never happened.
The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as RATH. Recorded period: E.CHRIST.. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
