Mortons and the Gortahurk West landscape still carry the shape of a rath, though no visible mound remains in the open field. That absence makes the place harder to dismiss, because a rath is not a decorative hill; it is a boundary drawn in earth, stone or memory. The name preserves the shape of human claim, while the lost structure withdraws from sight.
