Carnanee holds a rath, a fortified place from the early Christian period when Antrim landscapes were marked by defended settlements. The name preserves a boundary, a household or a local identity now lost beside the field. Stone, soil and memory have worn the edges smooth, but the anchor remains: a shaped place where people lived, resisted or belonged.
