RATH: CUCKOLD HILL in Cloven Eden

RATH: CUCKOLD HILL

What is recorded here

Cuckold Hill is a rath in Cloven Eden, County Armagh, recorded for the Christian era. The official map places a point at the centre of the hill, while the hill itself may have stood with a fence, ditch or doorway for as long as people could remember. It is the kind of place where a family kept goats, children climbed at dusk and an old woman warned them not to roll stones into the hollow. That warning is not a joke, because hills remember the shape of fear long after the names have faded.
The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as RATH: CUCKOLD HILL. Recorded period: E.CHRIST.. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
