What is recorded here
Motte-and-castle ruins in Ballyharvey Lower, County Antrim. Built during the medieval period, the earthworks still mark a place of power. Men may have watched the coast from the mound or kept horses inside the rampart. The shape remains clear enough to imagine life moving through it.
The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as RATH AND MOTTE. Recorded period: E.CHRIST.; MEDIEVAL. Recorded protection: Scheduled. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.
