This blue commemorative plaque records: From the 17th-century Ram Inn on this site, stage-coaches departed for London, Bristol and Birmingham until the railway era. During 1895-97 the inn was demolished, Castle Street was widened and the present building was erected originally as municipal offices Recorded plaque organisation: Cirencester Civic Society.
The Ram Inn served as a crucial coaching inn in Cirencester from the 17th century, facilitating travel to major cities until the advent of railways. The original structure was later demolished and replaced with municipal offices, reflecting the area's adaptation to modern transportation and urban development.
