RAISED RATH in Tonaghmore

RAISED RATH

What is recorded here

Tonaghmore still holds a raised rath, an earthwork so old it belongs to the whole of recorded time rather than one dated life. People may have circled it, feared it, loved it or simply avoided its ridge, but the land kept the shape they made.
The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as RAISED RATH. Recorded period: E.CHRIST.. Recorded protection: Scheduled. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
