What is recorded here
Ballygomartin still holds a raised rath, an earthwork from the early Christian period that men built with muscles and patience. You can picture them carrying soil in shallow baskets, lifting a round fortress above the Antrim field while children watched from the grass. The land kept that shape through every storm and every forgotten kingdom.
The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as RAISED RATH. Recorded period: E.CHRIST.. Recorded protection: Scheduled. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.
The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
