RAISED RATH in Ballycloghan

RAISED RATH

What is recorded here

Ballycloghan still holds a raised rath, though no date or owner survives to explain it. The earth may have risen around a home, a boundary or a warning, shaping itself into a marker before written memory arrived. People may have walked past it, lived beside it or forgotten it entirely, leaving only its shape behind.
The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as RAISED RATH. Recorded period: UNCERTAIN. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
