What is recorded here

Marianne said the fort was a bedroom, not a prison. The chamber was a shallow dish of red clay, wide enough for two people to lie beside each other without touching. Its walls rose no higher than a wrist, yet they blocked every road and doorway in the world. Inside the dish, the sky was a green sea turned upside down. Stars moved like fish, and each fish dropped a small white light that fell through the women without hurting them.
