Throughout the age of sail, this Quayside area around Exchange Buildings (c. 1861) was home to Newcastle's ship owners, including such men as R. Beckwith, H. Milvain and T. Miller. Recorded plaque organisation: City of Newcastle upon Tyne, Tyne and Wear County Council.
R. Beckwith, H. Milvain, and T. Miller were prominent sailing ship owners based in Newcastle upon Tyne during the 19th century, contributing significantly to the region's maritime trade and economic prosperity.
