Quirang is a sea cliff composed primarily of Lewisian gneiss, some of the oldest rocks in Scotland, dating back approximately 2.7 to 3 billion years. These metamorphic rocks formed deep within the Earth's crust through intense heat and pressure, and were later exposed by erosion and tectonic activity, making the cliff notable for its ancient geological history.
