Queen Eleanor's Cross was built by King Edward I in memory of his wife, Queen Eleanor of Castile, and completed around 1291. It is a Gothic-style memorial cross, one of twelve built along the route of her funeral procession, and marks a significant historical and architectural landmark associated with medieval royal commemoration.
