This grey commemorative plaque records: The Public Hall Designed by Thomas Fulcher in 1785 as an assembly room and used for Balls, Corporation Feasts and as a Theatre. Restored in 1903, it is now the Town's Public Hall. Recorded plaque organisation: The Beccles Society.
Thomas Fulcher was a significant architect active in Suffolk during the late 18th century; he is remembered for his design of the Public Hall in Beccles, which has served as an important venue for community events since its construction in 1785.
