Powis Castle, Gate to Fountain Garden stands as a modern gate in Powys, Wales, built during the twentieth century to frame the castle's famous gardens. It marks the boundary between the ordinary road and the cultivated wonder within, where water and stone still perform their ancient dance. The gate itself is young, but the place it guards has spent centuries shaping memory, pride and surprise in the hearts of those who pass through.
The National Monuments Record of Wales records Powis Castle, Gate to Fountain Garden as Gate from the Modern; 20th Century period. The saved point comes from the official national record. Inclusion does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.
Built in the 20th century as part of the modernization of Powis Castle, a historic site originally constructed in the 13th century by the Powys family. The gate is important as a surviving element of the castle's later development and its continued use as a significant example of Welsh heritage.
The historic-place record does not grant public access. Check current conditions and ownership before entering land or a building.
