Wall-mounted cast-iron post box, installed c.1880, having canopied letter slot with raised lettering reading ‘Post Office’ and embossed manufacturer's mark 'W.T. Allen & Co. London'. Set in rubble limestone wall.
A fine example of historic mass produced cast-iron, demonstrating the excellent quality and design which was used for these functional objects in the past.
