What is recorded here

Crannogs were ancient island homes built on piles in shallow lakes, and one may still lie drowned beneath Castle Coole water in County Fermanagh. Men may have driven timber into silt, laid planks across the tops and lived above the lake while birds circled the reeds. The water closed the gap between worlds, hiding hearths, footpaths and warnings from everyone who never learned to read the surface.

The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as possible CRANNOG (now submerged). Recorded period: E.CHRIST.. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.
