What is recorded here
Gortadrehid Little in County Fermanagh holds a possible crannog foundation and burning pits, waiting beneath the soil for someone brave enough to imagine their maker. The name itself admits doubt, yet doubt does not erase the shape of what happened. A person may have driven timber into wet earth, built a small room against the water, and later burned what could not be saved. The pits remain as marks of that decision, separate from invention and greater than forgetting.
The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as Possible Crannog foundation and Burning Pits. Recorded period: UNCERTAIN. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.
The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
