Port na Cloiche Gile

Bay

What is recorded here

Port na Cloiche Gile is shown as a bay on the public map of Highland. The saved point is the map point or the centre of its mapped shape.
Port na Cloiche Gile is a coastal rock feature likely composed of Lewisian gneiss, some of the oldest rocks in Scotland, dating back over 2.7 billion years. These highly metamorphosed rocks formed deep within the Earth's crust and were later exposed by tectonic activity and erosion, making the site notable for its ancient geological history.
