PLATFORM RATH: OAKS in Ballydonaghy

PLATFORM RATH: OAKS

What is recorded here

Oak branches still mark the edge of the Ballydonaghy platform rath, though the ground has changed around them. The trees may have grown after the stones fell, or they may have watched the building rise. Either way, the oaks and the rath belong to the same place now, with root and stone doing the remembering together.
The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as PLATFORM RATH: OAKS. Recorded period: E.CHRIST.. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
