What is recorded here
Antrim soil still holds the buried chamber and rising platform marked in the official record. Whether the passage served worship, refuge or concealment has faded from memory. The chamber may have been built to hide people, treasure or prayer when danger came above. What is certain is that the earth was cut and shaped, not left to chance.
The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as PLATFORM RATH & Man-made underground passage. Recorded period: E.CHRIST.. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.
The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
