What is recorded here

Knockroe holds a platform rath, an elevated earthwork built by human hands long before modern borders drew their lines. The platform shape suggests people raised the ground deliberately, perhaps to see farther, stand apart or keep something off the lower land. That much is clear from the form itself. What is missing is the voice that first walked its edge, the reason it was built and the moment it stopped being a living place.
The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as PLATFORM RATH. Recorded period: E.CHRIST.. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
