PLATFORM RATH in Budore

PLATFORM RATH

What is recorded here

PLATFORM RATH in Budore, County Antrim, is an ancient earthwork where a raised platform once stood above the surrounding land. People may have built it to watch the coast, honour the dead or claim a boundary before written history arrived. The flat top and steep sides still suggest pride, fear or simple ambition, even though no name remains.
The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as PLATFORM RATH. Recorded period: E.CHRIST.. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
