PLATFORM RATH in Ardees Lower

PLATFORM RATH

What is recorded here

Mortars and missiles flew across the border during the Northern Ireland conflict, but this quiet Fermanagh platform stood untouched. That absence still startles because war usually leaves scars on every roof and field. Perhaps the platform escaped notice, or perhaps its height and shape marked it as useless to the weapons aimed at human life.
The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as PLATFORM RATH. Recorded period: E.CHRIST.. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
