What is recorded here
Fort Hill rises in Creevyloughgare as a platform rath, perhaps the oldest visible shape in that part of County Down. Its stones and soil may have supported lives long before written history, yet no exact date or named event survives. The hill still holds the possibility that people stood there, watched the sky, and belonged to the land before memory faded.
The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as PLATFORM RATH: FORT HILL. Recorded period: E.CHRIST.. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.
The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
