Pitcastle is a lost bronze axehead, its socket still shaped to grip a wooden handle, waiting in the dark soil of Perth and Kinross for a hand strong enough to reclaim it. The Stewarts of Athole later owned the land, yet they never touched the ancient weapon buried beneath their feet. Their bloodline stretched unbroken through centuries of prayer, sword and marriage, but the axehead remained patient beneath all their noise.

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Pitcastle as Socketed Axehead (bronze)(period Unassigned). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 10m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.
