Archaeological monitoring (15E0577) by P. Duffy, D. Bayle and J. Whitaker of topsoil stripping over a large area (c. 92 ha.) conducted intermittently between Dec. 2015 and October 2018 uncovered 37 locations of potential archaeological importance (excavations.ie 2016:051). Each of these was further investigated by the same archaeologists under different licences. At Site 6 excavation (16E0063) by P. Duffy recorded (excavations. ie 2016:559) two small pits c. 1m apart. One pit (dims 0.3m x 0.28m; D 0.07m) had a single fill of grey silty sand while the other (dims 0.35m x 0.18m; D 0.09m) had a layer of orange/brown sandy clay beneath brown/black silty clay with charcoal. Both had inclusions of burnt bone and animal bone but there was no in situ burning. No artefacts were recovered and no dating is available.
