Pionersk: Ness of Trebister, North Sea

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Pionersk: Ness of Trebister, North Sea as Fish Factory Ship (20th Century)-(1994). Pionersk was a Soviet fish factory ship that ran aground on the Ness of Trebister, Orkney, in the North Sea on 28 January 1989. The vessel was abandoned and later broken up on site; no lives were lost, but the wreck remains a notable example of Cold War-era Soviet fishing activity in Scottish waters.
